Proconex just concluded another year of its summer internship program. We had six interns in four different departments which included Sales and Marketing, Business Operations, Business Development and Warehouse Management. Our interns were: Kate Bailey, Sales and Marketing, Patrick Pettus, Business Operations, Liam Callahan, Business Operations, Jared Preite, Warehouse, Chris Fiore, Business Development, and Matt McCollum Jr., Business Development.
Over the course of the internship program, each intern is provided with a work plan that includes components of independent work as well as anticipated contribution to team projects. Interns are provided with the opportunity to meet with various department leads and gain exposure to different areas of the business. Each intern provides a weekly summary of their activities, along with relevant feedback to the business, culminating in a presentation to the Executive Team summarizing their experience.
“I was handed a packet by my supervisor that listed all the tasks with descriptions that Proconex wanted me to work on during my internship, said Kate Bailey, Sales and Marketing intern. “ I met with my supervisor to go over the tasks and he helped me get started on the first project which was populating a heat map that the inside sales team would use to stay updated on all their customers. Immediately I felt as though I was working on something that the inside sales team would use even after my internship ended, which is a very rewarding feeling.”
Along with the interns’ workload, Proconex was able to schedule some fun activities which included an outing to a baseball game, customer site visits, lunches with their mentors, as well as day of games and food at Dave and Buster’s arcade.
Proconex strives to provide interns with a valuable learning experience that utilizes their classroom knowledge with real world work experience. Proconex is proud to give our interns the opportunity to contribute to the company in a valuable way.
“Internship programs are quite popular these days,” Kate Bailey added. “It gives someone the opportunity to dip their feet into a certain career area and gain experience and knowledge. Not all companies can operate a good quality internship program, but Proconex did!
We wish our interns the best as they continue in their studies and navigate their career paths.
